Swinging Into a Wonderful World: The 4th Annual PMW Tournament

Honoring a Legacy

On February 21, 2016, our family experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of Peyton Martin Weddle (PMW). Peyton was more than a cousin, a nephew, a son, a brother, a grandson, or a friend — he was a bright presence whose kindness, energy, and unique spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His sudden passing in a one-car accident less than a mile from home remains a mystery known only to God. Yet while his time with us was far too short, Peyton’s legacy continues to live on in ways that uplift, inspire, and bring people together.

One of Peyton’s great passions was golf. Known for his cheerful personality and his signature bright pink club, Peyton brought joy to the course just as he did to life. It is fitting, then, that one of the most meaningful ways we honor his memory is through an annual golf tournament held in his name.

The 4th Annual PMW Tournament

On September 18, 2025, family, friends, and supporters gathered for the 4th Annual PMW Golf Tournament held at Peyton’s home course Memphis National Golf Club. Now a beloved tradition, the tournament is more than a sporting event — it is a celebration of Peyton’s life, a moment of remembrance, and an opportunity to continue the values he embodied.

The impact of the tournament extends beyond the course. Each year, proceeds support the Peyton Martin Weddle Scholarship at the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business. This endowed scholarship will remain at the university in perpetuity, ensuring that Peyton’s name and spirit inspire students for generations to come. The PEYitforward Foundation will be in a continuous search for individuals with similar interests Peyton displayed while fulfilling his earthly duties.

The knowledge that future leaders will pursue their education with Peyton’s story in mind is both comforting and profoundly meaningful.

Extending the Legacy: Partnership with Catholic Charities

This year’s event also included a new partnership that expanded the reach of Peyton’s legacy. The tournament joined with Catholic Charities of West Tennessee in support of their Hope for Heroes campaign, which provides resources and support to veterans across our community. We were honored to welcome the program’s director, Mike Goughnour, who addressed players and volunteers, sharing the mission and impact of this important initiative. The presence of Hope for Heroes was a powerful reminder that Peyton’s legacy is not only about remembering the past but also about shaping a better future.

The PEYitforward Foundation

Much of this work is made possible through the PEYitforward Foundation, established in 2020 as the successor to the PMW Foundation. Its mission reflects the lessons learned since Peyton’s passing and carries forward the qualities he embodied. In their own words:

“Through the legacy of Peyton Martin Weddle, The PEYitforward Foundation will dedicate itself to spreading love to all, giving back to local communities, advocating for road safety, and encouraging others to choose kindness over hate every single day.”

These values are at the heart of the tournament and are visible in every moment of community, generosity, and remembrance that takes place each September.

Mr. Keiths’ Role

At Mr. Keiths, we were humbled to support the 2025 PMW Tournament as an Eagle Sponsor. Alongside many other companies and organizations, we were proud to contribute to an event so deeply connected to our family and our community. On a particularly hot September day, we also provided water bottles for each player — a simple gesture, yet one that reflected our commitment to supporting both the tournament and the people who make it possible.

For our brand, whose motto is “Do the right thing”, the opportunity to participate in this event was profoundly meaningful. It was not simply sponsorship; it was an act of family, of remembrance, and of solidarity with a cause that transcends the game of golf.

Looking Ahead

The PMW Tournament is, at its heart, a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and community. It reminds us that while Peyton is no longer physically with us, his spirit continues to guide and inspire.

We invite you to follow the PEYitforward Foundation on social media @peyitforward901 to stay connected with their work and mission www.peyitforward901.org. And we encourage you to save the date for the 5th Annual PMW Tournament, which will take place on September 17, 2026. Whether you choose to participate as a donor, a sponsor, or a player, your involvement helps keep Peyton’s legacy alive — making the world a little brighter, one act of kindness at a time.
